ONE DAY BRIEFING

As part of the module, we were set a one-day brief that required us to respond to a short story picked it random. I found the prospect of the brief interesting as it was helping us to familiarize with the strict deadlines and short time scales that occur in industry. I found that it was a good way to come to terms with handling the pressure of such projects – it forced us to engage in the creative process immediately and increase the speed of idea generation. I hadn’t had a lot of experience with short briefs therefore it was beneficial to start working under the pressure that is present in the industry. It involved managing our time effectively and considerations regarding this were made in order to allocate time to generating initial responses, photographing, editing and presenting the project. These types of briefs will prove effective in the long term, as work and thought processes will start to take shape over a shorter time period.
